Stop Press: Mary Clare Paraglides

Yes, she did. tandem. Simon did too. Nic and I wimped out! Photos below! Yes it is MC in the air.

We had a great four days at Oludeniz, near Fethiye. Great hotel - way above our standard NZD 70-80 budget but hey, it was 30 years. lovely pool, tha's a snap from Simon's paraglide. Bit too oriented to the Brits' package market for ouur liking but it was till v nice!

Today we've driven along the coast, east along the med, to a place called Andrasan - a small beach village near an ancient site called Olympos - not the Greek one of cource - this one was Lycian. Great swim at Patara beach - recommended by Lonely Planet - a visit to the ancient Lycian city of Myra - much cooler than Pirene - and more impressive. Photos later.

Syating at the On Otel, recommended in the budget category by LP, and very good. About NZD90 per night and great except for the lack of a fridge!

Plan is to spend tomorow visiting Olympos, then a night further along the coast at Side, then a BIG drive inland to Urgup in Cappdocia for a few days. Si and Nic leave us there to fly back to London and we continie to Istanbul and Gallipoli.

Driving in Turkey has been OK - a bit different - but not quite as problematic as all the nay-sayers had lead us to expct. Touch wood!!! it is a bit dfficult to work out what the seed limit is, and this "virtual third lane" thing (oncoming and overtaken vehicles are just expected to move over when someone decides to overtake) takes some getting used to - and it is true that the traffic signs we recognise are honoured more in the breach thn the observance, but hey, it's OK.

The bridge into western (European) Istanbul is apparently another story!

That's all folks. Will post some accessible photos below!
